Trinity Baptist Church was founded on August 16, 1970, originally named Calvary Heights Baptist Church. A group of 15 charter members established the church, with Mrs. Lillie Andrews being the last of them to pass away. The first pastor, Bro. Ralph Harrelson, led the congregation as they purchased the building and property from Childhaven Road Church of Christ for $32,000. The original board of trustees included Buford Hankey, H.E. Mayhall, and Billy Flannigan.
In 1980, the original building suffered a devastating fire that destroyed its interior. However, the church was rebuilt with additions to the original structure, showcasing the congregation’s resilience and faith. In 1983, the name was officially changed to Trinity Baptist Church. Later, in 1992, additional property was acquired from R.H. Culpepper to support the church’s growing needs.
By 1998, the church initiated an educational building project, which was completed in 2001 under the leadership of Pastor Curtis Cochran. That same year, Trinity Baptist Academy was established, marking the church’s second endeavor in Christian education. An earlier school operated in 1980 under Pastor Gene Nabors but ran for only a few years.
Over its 55-year history, Trinity Baptist Church has been blessed with 11 pastors: Ralph Harrelson, Mike Mayhall, Gene Nabors, Steve Nutt, E.B. Williams, Brian Boehme, Melvin Cordes, Curtis Cochran, David Doss, Charles Sparks, and its current pastor, D.A. Slinkard.
The church has been a beacon of hope and faith, witnessing countless lives transformed through salvation, young men answering the call to preach, and members committing to full-time Christian service. Trinity Baptist Church has a rich tradition of missionary work, supporting missions and sending missionaries around the globe.
We are honored and grateful to continue being a part of God’s work here at Trinity Baptist Church, faithfully serving the Lord and our community.
